Both Profhilo and dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body and provides hydration and volume to the skin. Profhilo is unlike traditional fillers as it does not add significant volume to the face, instead it is a skin booster. The aim of Profhilo is to smooth lines, lift and tighten, while enhancing the skin’s glow and luminosity.
Traditional dermal fillers remain where they are injected whilst the new skin boosting injectables slowly infuse hyaluronic acid through the skin, making the result more subtle. Skin boosters also boost collagen and elastin production, which can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
If you are looking to give your skin a more youthful appearance but aim for a natural look, Profhilo could be for you as whilst dermal filler is injected into specific areas of the face, such as cheekbones or lips, Profhilo is distributed evenly across the face for a complete refresh. Our aesthetics clinician, Dr Bita Farzad, is an experienced Profhilo provider and at Umi Clinic in Petersfield, Hampshire, we are pleased to offer it to our patients as one of the latest anti-ageing treatments to boost skin rejuvenation.

Skin Boosters FAQs
A fine needle is used to inject small amounts of the unique Profhilo formula of hyaluronic acid into five specific areas on each side of the face. A numbing cream is applied prior to the treatment and once this has taken effect the injections generally take around 20 – 30 minutes to administer.
After at least two treatments four weeks apart you should see tighter, firmer, smoother, more hydrated and radiant skin.
Following two treatments of the Profhilo skin booster, 4-6 weeks apart, you could leave approximately 6 months between each subsequent treatment. Sometimes further treatments can be required to see the full benefit of Profhilo. Generally, this would be determined during your initial consultation but will depend on your body’s response to the initial treatment.
The needle used is tiny, it is the product itself that can cause a brief stinging sensation as it is injected. However, each injection takes only seconds to administer so the sensation is short lived and dissipates quickly. We can also use numbing cream prior to treatment.
You can return to your normal activities following Profhilo treatment but for the first 24 hours patients are advised not to apply make-up and to stay out of the sun. There will be small localised red bumps where the product has been placed that will quickly start to fade, sometimes within a few hours, and that should disappear within one day.
