Anti-wrinkle Injections | UMI Clinic | Private Dentist Petersfield

Anti-wrinkle injections are an extremely versatile treatment, mainly used to treat the upper face including the forehead, frown lines and around the eyes. Anti-wrinkle injections relax facial muscles by temporarily blocking their nerve impulses, thus reducing muscle contraction.

Administered in controlled doses by a professional clinician, they soften facial expressions and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Anti-wrinkle Injections FAQs
What is the anti-wrinkle injections procedure?

During your aesthetics consultation we will carry out a medical history check, assess the areas of concern and agree upon a treatment plan to suit your needs. At your treatment appointment, our clinician at Umi Clinic will take you through the consent form and also take some pre-treatment photographs. The treatment area will be prepared and the injections will be administered according to your treatment plan. You will then be given aftercare advice.

Which areas can be treated with anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections can be used on the upper facial areas to treat frown and forehead lines, as well as laughter lines or crow’s feet. They can also be used to tighten the jowls, lift the eyebrows, correct a downturned mouth, horizontal lines on the neck and improve fine lines above the upper lips.

What results can I expect from anti-wrinkle injections?

After the injections, you will not see the results immediately as this usually takes a few days. It can take up to a week for the anti-wrinkle injections to work.

What is the recommend after care following anti-wrinkle injections?

Any swelling, redness or minor bruising will usually subside soon after your anti-wrinkle treatment. Do not rub or touch the treated areas for the first 2 hours after anti-wrinkle injections. Try to remain upright for the following 4 hours and for the following 48 hours please avoid strenuous exercise, alcoholic drinks, extreme heat or sunbeds. Information on aftercare will be given at your consultation at Umi Clinic and please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

How long do the results of anti-wrinkle injections last?

This can vary from person to person as individual biochemistry affects the duration of results. It also depends on the area of treatment, however generally speaking results last approximately 3 to 4 months.

Are there any side effects to anti-wrinkle injections?

Side effects and downtime vary depending on the treatment used. Some treatments carry the risk of temporary localised redness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising to the treatment site. These side effects if they occur are usually minimal, redness and swelling usually resolving within a days after treatment.

Are anti-wrinkle injections painful?

The injections are quick and relatively painless and feel like a tiny pin prick. Our aesthetics clinician Dr Bita Farzad is renowned for her gentle approach and injection techniques that minimise discomfort and bruising.

What is the difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers?

Anti-wrinkle injections are different from dermal fillers. Anti-wrinkle injection treatment relaxes the underlying muscles while a dermal filler is used to fill in lines and restore lost volume. The two treatments are often used together to achieve a more dramatic result. You will have the chance to discuss what is best for you and what you hope to achieve with our experienced clinician at Umi Clinic.
