What is the hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a relatively common condition in which a person sweats excessively. The sweating may affect the whole of the body or only certain areas. We understand how embarrassing and distressing this can be and how it can negatively impact quality of life.
At Umi Clinic in Petersfield, Hampshire, we can help alleviate excessive sweating using injectable muscle relaxants such as those used in anti-wrinkle treatments, normally used for facial lines. Injectable muscle relaxants such as botulinum toxin tend to be well tolerated and act by reducing the stimulation of the sweat glands. Contact Umi Clinic to arrange a thorough assessment of your hyperhidrosis and treatment plan with Dr Farzad.

Hyperhidrosis FAQs
Excessive sweating can be caused by nervousness or anxiety, overactive sweat glands, coffee, alcohol or spicy food consumption or it may relate to a medical condition, for example thyroid problems, polycystic ovaries or diabetes.
At Umi Clinic our hyperhidrosis treatment with injectable muscle relaxants is performed by our skilled and experienced clinician, dentist Dr Bita Farzad, following a thorough evaluation of your medical history and symptoms. It is important to note that it may take up to 2 weeks following the injections for the full benefit to be felt.
Injectable hyperhidrosis treatment lasts for many months. However, the injectable muscle relaxants will eventually get reabsorbed into your body and the effect disappears, usually after approximately four to six months. Please note that some people may get greater benefit than others.
Treatment with botulinum toxin blocks the nerves that trigger the sweat glands. Most people don’t feel much pain during the procedure but you may prefer to have your skin numbed beforehand with a topical anaesthesia.
